2023 Servant’s Heart Scholarship Recipients
Since 2006, 75 scholarships have been awarded to college-bound high school seniors, totaling over $150,000. DMP Ministries is committed to assisting service-minded, young Christians to achieve their educational goals as they evangelize and serve as "the light" in a world filled with chaos. WE MUST SUPPORT THEM in prayer, by example, and with finances!
Our 2023 Scholarship Recipients are outstanding students who provide initiation and leadership of ministry service in their schools, churches and communities. They truly are making a difference!
Alexis Clark
Trinity University
Alexis Clark graduated from Bellaire H.S. At age 8, she was diagnosed with Giant Axonal Neuropathy (GAN), a rare and fatal genetic disease. With a daily health struggle, physical limitations, and the possibility of a shortened life, Lexi still chooses to find hope, joy and purpose in God each day. She became an advocate at her school for others with disabilities, and has become the national spokesperson for GAN. She raised over $300,000 for Hannah’s Hope Fund, the only 501c3 dedicated to finding a cure. As a student leader at church, Lexi has taught Sunday School, directed a 100-student retreat, and trained 32 counselors. She is a Girl Scout, and also serves in her disease community. Alexis will attend Trinity University.
Shayanne Campos
University of Puerto Rico
Shayanne Campos graduated from Eastwood Academy H.S. Upon learning that 1 in 4 teen girls missed school because they could not afford menstrual products, Shayanne founded the Eastwood’s Period Project, where menstrual hygiene products were placed in the school’s restrooms for the entire year. Shayanne was Captain of the soccer team, President of HOSA, Vice President of her Girl Scout Troop and a member of the National Honor Society. She also obtained a second-degree black belt in Taekwondo. Shayanne has a passion for ministry and loves mentoring young people. She accumulated over 240 hours of service to her community. She will attend the University of Puerto Rico.
Stephen Loh
Texas A & M University
Stephen Loh graduated from Cypress Woods H.S. He was a top-achiever at CyWoods both academically and in extracurricular activities. Stephen earned numerous recognitions for cross country and led the cross-country team as a top runner, and as an example in work ethic. He lettered in varsity cross country, varsity track and varsity orchestra. At church, Stephen taught preschool students in Sunday school, serves on the Youth Servant Team as a leader, plans Friday night fellowships and worship, and leads small group discussions. He also plays guitar and bass for the fellowships. His youth pastor noted that Stephen’s hospitality and kindness draws others and makes them feel included. He will attend Texas A & M University.
Abby Lumpkin
Texas A&M University
Abby Lumpkin graduated from Stratford H.S. With an urgent sense of justice and compassion for the vulnerable, she joined “As Our Own”, a non-profit Christian organization dedicated to recuing young girls out of sex trafficking. Abby holds bible studies with the girls and is a prayer warrior for them as they recover. Each year she runs a children’s day camp and donates the profits to assist the organization. Abby coaches a boys’ soccer team, and leads bible study for 7th grade girls each Sunday, as well as participates in many youth group activities. Through a school club, she tutors elementary schoolers, volunteers at the local family center. She has served many hours at Camp Blessings as a buddy to campers with special needs. She will attend Texas A&M University.
Chloe Newport
Howard University
Chloe Newport graduated from St. Agnes Academy on the High Honors Honor Roll with an impeccable academic record. She was captain for Varsity Cross Country and Varsity Track. She has worked summer food drives and back-to-school drives. Chloe participated in a Christian club at St. Agnes in which they discussed their faith and how to make a positive impact on campus. She has fed the homeless and volunteered at Nabor House, a daycare for underprivileged children. Chloe provides academic assistance to her peers where needed, and encourages those around her to be great. Chloe states that her reasons for serving are rooted in her faith, and lives by Matthew 25:40, “Jesus said, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me”. Chloe will attend Howard University.
Emily Nguyen
University of Houston
Emily Nguyen graduated from Cypress Woods H.S. She’s noted as having a high capacity for creative thought. One such example: when asked to write a research paper describing how society defines a word or concept, Emily wrote 6-8 pages on the color “yellow” through which her teacher admitted that she herself learned a lot. Emily is very involved in church by planning and leading retreats, praise and worship events, and teaching 1st graders. She believes in teamwork, avoids cliquish behaviors, and has been observed defusing bully situations with a peaceful approach and her skill in diplomacy. She is an accomplished swimmer, and maintained honor roll status throughout high school. Emily will attend the University of Houston.
Morgan Pattillo
University of Georgia
Morgan Pattillo graduated from Memorial H.S. She, and others, founded the Mustang Military Support Club to serve the military through sending letters, blankets and paracord bracelets. She’s a member of the National Honor Society and the National Spanish Honor Society, and took 5 years of Spanish to help the Spanish-speaking community. Morgan joined the Student Heroes Program of the Houston Food Bank and became a leader, volunteering with food distribution almost every Saturday during COVID. She’s a Young Life Leader, and has participated in several mission trips. A director at her church stated, “I know Morgan will be a kingdom grower this Fall. People around her want to meet Jesus because of her Christlikeness.” Morgan will attend the University of Georgia.
