Makayla Fillmore documented 450+ service hours, one such project being her service at an elementary, tutoring at-risk students 140 hours each summer. At Langham Creek HS, Makayla participated in service-oriented groups while maintaining high grades. At church she initiates, organizes, improves and advances anything she is a part of. Because she conducts weekly Bible studies, the youth are “urging their parents to get them to church”. Makayla noted that what carried her through a very aggressive cancer, including 42 treatments of chemotherapy, was that she walked by faith and not by sight. “Satan tried to bury me, but he didn’t realize I was a seed”. And blossom for Christ, she did! Makayla will attend Prairie View A&M.
